Happy Summer !

Summer has finally arrived: the sun is shining, and the school has ended !

Last Thursday was our last day at school. No homework anymore, however I still need to practice my english writing (as you can read), so I'm going to write this post in english.

For the last day, we organized a party at school. Alcohol is obviously prohibited, music is very limited, so this "party" was basically eating home-made specialties brought by students from all over the world: sushis from Japan, dampkring from China, Crepes from France (Vive la Bretagne!), coffee from the Starbuck's, and so many other delicous recipes that I can't recall the name from Colombia, Cameroon, Haiti, Iran, Irak, Russia, Syria, Algeria, Vietnam, Taiwan, ... Having met and spent time with people from so diverse cultures and histories is what have made this class highly interesting. Listening and discussing about the world news (www.cbc.ca/news) every morning was an outstanding lesson: not only the english we learnt, but also sharing different standpoints, perspectives and backgrounds. A great "open-minding" experience.

To complete the year, we passed some exams: Inuit art research and presentation to estimate the speaking, and different writing exercises. Based on that, we have been given marks by the teacher: Cecile, despite her part-time job, is the only one from her class to move from level 3 to 4 (congratulations), and I have now reached level 8. I am supposed to be fully functional and to find a job easily now... To maintain our level and a bottom line of social activity, we are registered to a summer class from end of June to end of July. After that, no class at all in August, so it's gonna be a good period for you to visit us, or for us to visit the Canada. Then, if I still don't have a job in September, I will go back to school, instead of staying at home waiting for job opportunities... It will drive me crazy!

Anyway, we are on holidays, so let's enjoy the sun and the festival period that is coming. Happy summer everybody !

Naurel
